Send Me An Angel: Seeking Faith

My religion is a religion of sharing, not of following. It is a religion of LOVE.

Age 10

When I was ten years old, I was learning about the real meaning of faith. Our little A-frame church had a tapestry above the pulpit, in bold purple letters, stating that the “greatest virtue of them all” was faith.

I asked my mother, father and my Sunday School teacher to explain to me exactly what faith meant.

The answer was clear; to know, deep in your heart, that your belief is true.

All my life, up to that point, my upbringing told me to believe in God, Christ and Heaven. As far as I could remember, I had never actually seen or heard any one of them. Sure, I was beginning to understand that a beautiful day was God, my mother’s beautiful singing was God and Jesus was always with me. I had no proof. Nothing tangible.

As for Heaven . . . what did I know of this? It was in the sky and everything there; including my grandparents, are happy, safe and live in bliss. I wasn’t sure, exactly, what that meant, though.

Every night, of course, I said my prayers and according to our minister, I could pray for whatever I wanted. I asked for a sign. A sign to let me know, without doubt, that Jesus was really there. That He was really true and not just in my imagination.

You see, I had prayed for quite a few things and many of them didn’t come to me. I prayed a lot, too. Also, as my mother taught me, I was grateful for all the things I did have or received. Still, if God could do everything, and I had faith, how come not everything happened as I prayed?

What I wanted most, though, was true faith. I wanted so much to believe. And I was finding that very difficult because I couldn’t see God, Jesus or even Heaven. I saw the sky, no doubt, but I didn’t see my grandparents or my Uncle Pete who was the first person I ever knew to die. He died when I was seven years old. One night, about a year after he died, Mom and I saw Uncle Pete and his truck on the side of the road. We both saw him clearly and he waved at us! When we turned around and went back, there was no truck and no Uncle Pete. Thus, to my mind, he wasn’t in Heaven; he was there, in Phoenix, AZ, waving at us!

Mom N' Me (Age 7)

My nightly ritual continued, asking God and Jesus for a sign. Sometimes I would ask them for a specific sign and I often got it. For example, I’d admonish, “If you’re really there, make my curtains move!” And they did!

Nevertheless, I wanted something a little more obvious, unmistakable. Perhaps, the air conditioner was making my curtains move? I prayed.

One Wednesday afternoon, Mom and I went to the church so she could rehearse her solo for the next Sunday. The organist, Marie, was there before we arrived and the three of us moved to the front pew. My mother and Marie, at the organ, began the rehearsal. I was drawing pictures on a sketch pad, and periodically looking up to the large brown cross hovering over the altar above the pulpit.

It was a good time to talk to God and repeat my prayer for a sign.

About that time, a huge breeze swept up the aisle between the pews and whipped my hair into my face. An impossibility as we were far into the church, and the only doors were too far way to create such a huge gush of air.

Nevertheless, I thought Mom and Marie had felt it too. I figured they must’ve noticed; it was so strong! I also thought the minister had come in and somehow created the wind tunnel.

As I, alone, turned to see where the wind came from, at the back pew I saw an angel!!!

She, at least that’s what I assumed, was floating several inches above the ground; looking up at the cross and going towards it. She was completely white from head to toe with a flowing gown and glistening white all around her. Not really wings, more like a gossamer aura encompassing her whole being. In her clasped hands, she held a candle with a flickering pure white flame.

I was staring, in awe, at her. I felt paralyzed. Inside my mind, my mother warned me about doubting saying it wasn’t right. Part of me thought God was punishing me by scaring me so much.

As that thought crossed my mind, though, the gentle and beautiful angel looked at me, smiled at me with a nod of her head and the message I heard in the Christmas story came into my whole body. “Be not afraid, my child.”

Immediately, I could move again and a tremendous feeling of love and peace came over me. My angel continued on her journey toward the cross and disappeared just above the pulpit.

I put my head against my mother’s comforting shoulder and cried . . . for happiness. I now had complete faith. I knew I was not alone and am protected and guided.

It took a while to tell my mother the whole story as I was in a blissful place for a day or two. When I told her about my angel, she believed me. It made me happy as I had often been scolded for having too big of an “imagination” and often buzzing out in school to daydream. It was incredible to be believed and accepted for my gifts, when that wasn’t always the case.

My mother or Marie did not see or feel anything. My mother, to this day, tells me that the angel was there for me and that is why only I was able to see her. Yet, she still believes me!

A blessing indeed!

Day One-Hundred Twenty-One (121): Positivity

OneHundred TwentyOne (121):

Maintain A Positive Attitude

Belief that you can have your desire must be sustained because there surely will be a period between dreaming of having it and the physical manifestation of it in your life. Seldom are manifestations instantaneous. Intensify your efforts of deliberately working with the Law of Attraction by feeling and expressing your thankfulness at what you already have. Feel gratitude also for the power that is working to bring you the object your fervently desire.

109) Believe And You May Be Healed

It is often difficult to assess whether or not an ill person has experienced a miraculous cure. Certainly doctors can attest to the recovery but explaining such a sudden (sometimes instantaneous) recovery in someone who has been diagnosed with a chronic affliction or terminal disease can be impossible. Still, many people do recover through the power of their faith and unshakable belief that they will become healthy again. When they have such faith and belief of having excellent health, they are setting up a powerful force for attracting recovery through the Law of Attraction. For a healing to be deemed miraculous, the church undertakes a thorough investigation to rule out other possible explanations. When there is no explanation, the person’s cure is deemed a miracle.

Healing and miracles . . . this is a favorite subject!

Yes, I’ve seen and experience a few miracles and/or healings, in my life.

There are two that stand-out and is my story . . . which I still refer to as the time when Tim  Curry and McDonald’s french fries saved my life. In the final analysis, it was my own will to live, to choose, which ultimately saved my life.

Another time, I helped facilitate a healing, for a friend. It’s a very personal story . . . it was my friends’ sister. She had a remarkable, even miraculous recovery, and despite a terminal illness — lived another six years or so!

Day Eighty-Four (84): Author! Author! Or Should I Say: Playwright?

23) Self Mastery Can Achieve Spiritual Results

Rosicrucians believe that the key to gaining the mastery of life lies in your personal power and the source for all power is found within. With such mastery, you attain also strength, peace, and wisdom. The Law of Attraction works to help you achieve that mastery when you are attuned to the source. Harmoniously in tune with the universal spiritual laws, such as the Law of Attraction, you draw to you that which you need to further your spiritual unfolding.

To study the Rosicrucian way requires that a person seeks truth, has an open mind, a positive mental outlook, and clear aspiration for spiritual understanding. In other words, positive thinking and clarity of life goals can greatly impact the results you seek.

Today, in the Source Writers Meet-Up we read all the short plays for the June 21-26, 2010 production TestoGENIUS: A Celebration of Men.

It’s a special festival of plays, born out of the idea of the famous THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES. I believe it began with our Writers Forum member John Watts. The guys in the group through around titles such as THE PENIS MONOLOGUES, and had found it was taken. We’ve had other festivals at Manhattan Theatre Source, i.e. for 11 years, ESTROGENIUS; which celebrates women-themed plays and/or women playwrights: And the recent INGENIUS; celebrating some of the work from the Writers Forum. Thus, they came up with TESTOGENIUS and my play is in it.

ESTROGENIUS does the same thing . . . they allow men playwrights as long as the play is about women’s themes.

As I write this, nevertheless, it is already near the end of June (June 24th to be exact) and we in the middle of the production of TESTOGENIUS, which I’ll write even more about soon.

At the reading, on this day . . . which I’m recalling. My hearing actor, Charles Casano, was there to read my piece out loud. Everyone seemed to like it, and a lot of the other pieces were fun and/or serious or a little of both. Mine is pretty serious, nevertheless.

Here’s a breakdown of those that were read and by whom:

Day Seventy-Nine (79): Rainy Days and Monday’s (even on Tuesday)

Day Seventy-Nine (79): Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

79) Dreams And The Fall of Babylon

Daniel had predicted the fall of Babylon and the breaking up of the mighty empire into smaller and weaker kingdoms. Nebuchadnezzar’s worst fears manifested within seventy years as the Persians invaded Babylon. Persia then fell into the hands of the Greeks led by Alexander the Great. Some might say that the Law of Attraction was simply bringing to Nebuchadnezzar what his fears and nightly dreams had attracted. Dreams can be incubated to elucidate some problem you may be encountering in a deliberate manifestation effort or to ensure that you are on course to achieve a goal. Likewise, dreams have been known to reveal illness, foretell births and deaths, and reveal breakthroughs in self-help and spiritual work.

Since I don’t remember much about this day . . . except it was raining and I made note that I didn’t feel well. I wanted to share a beautiful video with you.

Yes, I am a happy person . . . still, I long to share the journey with a significant other. I know it is already so. I believe my life partner, in the form of a soul mate is looking for me, too.

It is only a matter of lining up our energies and we will come together.

Of course, I am happy in my life. I am alone, yet, not lonely. I find pleasure with my theatre life, my friends. In fact, as I have always believed…the right guy will add to me life.

I certainly have a great life! I’m holding out for my hero to add to me life . . .

Love, Light & Laughter,

Angela Theresa
